Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy helps increase ciriculation, reduce myofascial adhesions, release tension, which helps to increase range of motion. Plastic and silicone cups are placed over areas of muscle and connective tissue restriction. The therapist will either use the cup to glide over tissue to reduce tension and fascial adhesions, or leave the cup “parked” in a restricted spot for a few minutes. Generally cupping is not painfull, but there is a  pulling sensation with the cup creating suction through the muscle and connective tissues. Often cupping can leave a circular mark for up to a week past treatment, which is not painful or damaging to the patient in any way.

  • Massage is a hands-on therapy that manipulates soft tissues to promote relaxation, relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and address pain points. • What are the benefits of Massage Therapy?

  • There can be a level of discomfort when working through major areas of tension, however massage should not be extremely painful. If you begin to experience pain within your massage treatment it is important to notify your therapist, so that they can adjust their technique and pressure.

  • Just like after a session of strength training, or physical activity, there can be a period of soreness after a massage. Typically soreness happens within 1 to 3 days after a massage treatment, and is usually relieved through movement, stretching and hydration. Most people find that even when they experience some soreness that it is minimal and that the massage has relieved areas of tension, improved movement, and they feel better that before the treatment.

  • You are welcome to undress to your comfort level, meaning you can choose what clothing items remain on while receiving massage therapy. Please note we encourage patients to leave their underwear on to help create a sense of boundary and help with professional draping techniques. You are encouraged to discuss the level of undress with your therapist before your treatment begins.

  • Upon coming into our clinic, you will be greeted by our massage therapist. If this is your first visit, please come 15 minutes early to fill out your health history and insurance information.

Your therapist will then bring you into a treatment room to discuss your health history and reasons for receiving massage therapy. They will discuss areas that will be treated, areas that you wish to avoid, pressure level, and any other concerns that you might have.

Your therapist will then leave the treatment room to give you a moment to undress to the discussed comfort level. You will climb onto the table and cover up with the top sheet and blanket.

Once ready your therapist will knock, then begin your massage therapy session.

You are encouraged to mention the level of pressure, areas being worked on, or questions that come up at any time during your treatment.

At the end of your treatment, your therapist will leave the room, giving you privacy to get ready. You can then meet your therapist back in the reception area.

  • You get to decide the level of discussion/conversation that happens in every treatment. There are times when you might wish to chat or have a conversation, and there will be times when you wish to remain quiet. Please let your therapist know at the beginning of each treatment what your preference for conversation is.
